Answer:
Cost of 3 wallets (2 give 1 free) - $12
Selling Price of 2 wallets - 2 x $9 = $18

Therefore profit whenever he gives out 1 free wallet is $18- $12 = $6

He gave out 198 wallets, so $198 x 6 = $1188 profit from customers who bought 2 wallets.

Total profit is $2628. So profit from customers who bought 1 wallet is $2628 - $1188 = $1440

Profit from selling one wallet is $9- $4 = $5.

So $1440 / $5= 288 (customers who bought 1 wallet)

Profit of 1 wallet = $9 - $4 = $5

wallets sold under promotion = 198 x 2 = 396 wallet

profit of wallets sold under promotion = profit of wallets sold - cost of giveaway wallets = (396 x $5) - (198 x $4) = $1980 - $792 = $1188

profit of wallet sold not under promotion = $2628 - $1188 = $1440

wallets sold not under promotion = $1440 / 5 = 288

therefore 288 customers bought only 1 wallet from him.

The steps are the same as most of you except that to ensure that the teacher know that i understand, i draw bars

(The X are the parts shaded which represent those sold. O is the free wallet)

Usually for primary school even if you get the answer with the working above, you will not get full point unless you draw a bar chart.
